Dear customer,

In this BermanTec update we will introduce you to one of our versatile products called the Level Switch. Often used in heavy-duty industries to monitor levels of different fluids in an engine, tank, pump or compressor, these switches add an important layer of security. Read on for more information or find our Murphy level switches by clicking here.

Murphy Level Switches – Applications

Murphy level switches (or MLS) are used in many heavy-duty industries to monitor and control various systems, such as liquid level, pressure, temperature, and vibration. It’s a combination of a level gauge and a stop switch. If a certain value exceeds or goes below the set limit, the switches can be programmed with start/stop mechanisms and alarms.

This can be done for a range of fluids, such as lube oil, hydraulic fluid, coolants and even for fuel. Some switches, such as the LM2000 and the LM300 can refill oil when necessary.

Murphy Level Switches – Safety first

Oil lubricates, cleans and cools the engine and a shortage causes serious damage to the engine. To avoid this, Murphy level switches can be installed inside the tank or chamber to switch off when the fluid amount reaches a critical level.

We automatically think of fluids going below a certain limit, but fluid levels exceeding the required amount is also a risk. This is often caused by overfill (human error), or fuel or water seeping into the tank. Models that have both high and low limit switches include: L129CK1, L1100 and L1200.

Product overview

We can offer a versatile selection of Murphy level switches. Our models are easy to install with minimum downtime, are float operated and can even be delivered in an explosion proof version.

The LR857 is one of our more popular models, as it can be fitted on engines of any size and the built-in supply tank mechanism will replenish oil to maintain the correct level in the crankcase.

The Murphy DF level switch is a reliable application for tank levels, often used in saltwater disposal systems, cooling towers, or waterflood systems. Both the DF755 and the DF757 can be installed without any modifications to the tank, and can be adjusted up to a 108 inch differential.

For other models, please contact our sales team, we’re ready to recommend you the right level switch for your needs!
