Dear customer,

In this April update we will introduce you to one of our anchor products called the ISOV shutoff valve. At BermanTec, we offer the most comprehensive and diverse line of positive air shutoff valves. In addition, our installation and activation kits are specifically engineered for your application. To see our whole ISOV line, click here.

ISOV shoutoff valves are also offered through our partners, SESCO B.V.. For access to products and related services, you can click here.

Safety engineered to the latest standards

At Bermantec, we understand that safety is your highest priority. In this company update, we therefore wanted to take the time to introduce our latest product line, the ISOV valves. These safety valves are specifically designed as an emergency shut down for engines to avert mechanical failure that can cause damage to engines.

What are ISOV valves?

The ISOV valve is an air intake shutoff valve, meaning it can prevent the engine from overspeeding by cutting off the engine’s air intake. Engineered to the highest industry standards, the valves are built to withstand high air temperatures, with high-grade sealing techniques to ensure maximum protection against extreme pressure spikes. It is often used by the onshore and offshore drilling industry, in mining, marine and construction, where engine damage can have severe consequences.

We currently sell ISOV valves from 51 to 508mm in diameter, which are made from aluminum. It also comes with a choice between the photoelectric switch and an electromechanical switch, the latter of which is required for marine and offshore applications.

Four types of valves

We stock four different types: Electric, Failsafe, Pneumatic and Manual. All valves can also be equipped with manual control that can be operated by hand or remotely.

ELECTRIC

Electric ISOV valves are shut by activating a linear 12 or 24 VDC solenoid. Once this gets triggered, it will automatically apply the right amount of pull force to release and close the valve. All electric valves also allow for a manual override if electric power is lost. The N-series are available with a diameter of up to 203mm.

MANUAL

The Remote Manual mode is often used on mobile equipment like trucks, generators and welding machinery. The Manual ISOV valves come with a special kit that can connect the valve to the operator cabin, so the switch can be used both on the valve itself or triggered from a distance.

PNEUMATIC

Pneumatic valves operate by applying air or oil pressure to the cylinder in the body of the valve. When enough pressure is applied, the pneumatic mechanism trips and the valve is closed. Pneumatic ISOV valves are often used on marine and offshore applications. They can have a diameter of up to 279,5mm but there are a wide range of sizes and flange adapters available. Get in touch with us to check more options.

FAILSAFE

Failsafe ISOV valves have to close when electric power is lost. It is therefore often used on offshore cranes and oil and gas installations. With an opposite mechanism of the pneumatic valve, the failsafe valve needs pressure to hold the valve open, but closes when there is a loss of pressure.
