Chrysler
Chrysler is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, and it’s part of the so-called “Big Three” in the US, with GM and Ford. Chrysler was founded in 1925, with a goal to provide an affordable, but well-engineered car. Initially, they outsourced the development of their alternators and starters, but later incorporated that production into their manufacturing process.
MOPAR (stands for “Motor” and “PARts”) was the automotive parts and accessories division of Chrysler until the takeover in 2021 by Amsterdam-based Stellantis. Mopar is still the primary product developer for all car brands under Stellantis, including the Chrysler engines. Therefore, Chrysler applications can be used on a variety of car makes and types; to name a few: Jeep, Dodge and Mercedes Benz.
In our current Chrysler portfolio, we supply both original and replacement models for alternators, starters, repair kits and spare parts such as bearings, drives, and regulators. These are applicable for both Chrysler sedans and Chrysler SUVs.
Quick fact: The company established its own Electrical Division in Indianapolis, where it manufactured starters, alternators, and other electrical parts, ensuring quality control and innovation.
Chrysler was the first automaker to incorporate a standard alternator, initially through outsourcing the manufacturing process to Essex Wire Corporation. In 1964, Chrysler started to develop its own alternators in 37A, 46A and 60A versions. (Alternators above 60A were still being provided by Leece-Neville). One of the specialties of the initial Chrysler alternators was the fact that it could be repaired without needed to be removed from the car.
We stock both complete Chrysler alternators as well as spare parts, like brushes, brush holders and regulators. Our Chrysler selection of alternators are 12V, with amps ranging from 78A to 180A. Our replacement alternators are of the same sturdy quality as the original make, and can replace Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Nippon Denso. The alternators are used on American cars predominantly, like the Jeep 4.0L, 2000 Dodge Rams and the Chrysler 300.
